|Additional info||Rare original 1972 UK Island Records 9-track 1st issue LP - arty British glam rockers "confident, astonishing debut" album which "shimmers with seductive style and pulsates with disturbing synthetic textures".... which "primitive avant-garde tendencies are married to full-fledged songs, whether it's the free-form, structure-bending "Re-Make/Re-Model" or the sleek glam of "Virginia Plain," the debut single added to later editions of the album." Stephen T. Earlewine, Allmusic.|
Vinyl has the pink rimmed 'palm tree' label and machinestamped matrix information:
Side 1: ILPS 9200 A-2U, mother/stamper 1 P
Side 2: ILPS 9200 B-2U, mother/stamper 1 PT
suggesting this to be a contract pressing manufactured by The Gramophone Co. Ltd., Hayes, Middlesex, from the 2nd mastering, 1st mothers within this and relatively early stampers.
Vinyl is housed in a generic light blue and purple printed polylined inner sleeve - and ultimately an outer laminated Tinsley Robor Group Ltd. gatefold picture cover wich has pink 'i' logo, company name and Basing Street address at mid lowermost back.
Condition: VG+(+) (Vinyl and Labels)/VG+(+) (Cover):
Vinyl is in beautifully shiny - has a some degree of sleeve only inflicted wear - looks like the album was inserted directly into the coarse card interior at some point. Nothing audible though - vinyl plays great.
Side 1 label 1 - 2 spindletraces, Side 2 label less than a handful - slightly more complex ones - all within the center ring.
Labels are graded near mint - vinyl overall close to near mint/excellent.
Picture cover has a little wrinkling from edges, a single thumbnail mark on mid back and just hints of superficial laminate only creasing - superb edges and corners - mint inner spread - at least a close to near mint cover - and overall a simply very nice copy.
